The Elmhurst Artists' Guild ("EAG") is hosting the Spring Members Show, an exhibition featuring a variety of original artwork by contemporary Chicago-area artists representing a broad range of styles and media including abstract, portrait, still life and landscape paintings, mixed media, collage and sculptural works. Suellen Rocca, Curator and Director of Art Exhibitions at Elmhurst College, will judge the artworks and give awards at the reception on Friday, March 12, from 7-9pm.

"Our members are an amalgam of dramatically different ages and styles, ranging from the etherial mixed media of Dianne Martia, to the intensely detailed, Dante-esque portraiture of Bob Proce, to the award-winning watercolors of Cuban street scenes of Tony Armendariz, and finally to my own edgy, abstract motorcycle paintings," said Wes Baker, EAG president. "These artists are the "folks next door" but their neighbors might be shocked at the extraordinarily diverse talent in their midst. Come to the reception, meet the artists and learn about their work!" he added.

Artworks can be viewed at the reception and through April 16, 2010 during regular museum hours (10am-4pm Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; 1-8pm Wednesday; 1-4pm Friday, Sunday) at the EAG Gallery in the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, IL 60126. Regular admission is $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, free under 12. Free for all visitors on Tuesdays and at the reception. More information is at www.elmhurstartistsguild.org.
